Parliament wants suicide probe

The Ugandan parliament has passed a resolution urging the government to set up a committee to investigate last week's mass suicide of about 400 members of a Ugandan doomsday cult.

"The resolution was to condemn the perpetrators of this carnage and to pass condolences to everyone who lost their loves ones," Jim Muhwezi, a member of parliament, said late on Tuesday.

"We also urged the government to set up a committee to investigate and probe this incident and to come up with a report, and also to investigate the sect and other similar organizations," he added.
