Falun
Gong Activists Arrested
A
local procuratorate in Haikou, capital of the southernmost
province of Hainan, announced on Monday that Song Yuesheng
and six other key members and activists of the illegal Falun
Gong cult were arrested.
On
August 8, the group called a gathering of Falun Gong practitioners,
defying an earlier Public Security Ministry ban on the cult.
This
was the most serious incident in the province, according
to the procuratorate. Song is a member of the Hainan General
Training Station of Falun Gong and head of a local training
station in Haikou.
Song
and his wife were arrested and detained for 15 days for
taking part in a siege of the provincial government by Falun
Gong activists on July 22.
