Qinghai
Publishing House punished for
Falun Gong publications
The
Qinghai People's Publishing House in China's northwest Qinghai
province has been suspended for printing illegal Falun Gong
publications, and those responsible have been punished.
In
January of this year, the publishing house released four
books that promote the banned Falun Gong cult, Xinhua learned
from the State Press and Publication Administration (SPPA).
In
addition, from July, 1998, to April, 1999, it printed a
number of books spreading feudalism, superstition and pseudo-science.
Such
conduct seriously violates the country's laws and regulations,
according to SPPA officials.
The
SPPA has suspended business operations of the publishing
house and issued a notice of criticism on the matter to
the country's press and publication circles.
The
Qinghai provincial government has sent a team of investigators
to the publishing house. Those responsible were either removed
from post or demoted.
