----- Focus on the Recent Activities of Li Hongzhi and His
Gang

On
April 13 of this year, more than a hundred "Falun Gong"
diehards illegally gathered at Beijing's Tiananmen Square
to create trouble. The heretical "Falun Gong" organization,
however, did not succeed in their plot to disorder because
by-standers and policemen on duty stopped them in time.
Soon after the incident, the so-called "China Human Rights
and Democratic Movement Information Center" in Hong Kong
immediately transmitted a facsimile to foreign news offices
in Beijing, relating the incident with much unction. The
fax said that "two hundred 'Falun Gong' practitioners in
Beijing were detained for staging a demonstration at Tiananmen",
and lumped this incident together with so-called human rights
issues. Some news media outside China soon got the news
and quickly made reports on the incident.
Since
the "April 25" incident last year, Li Hongzhi and his gang
have not ceased their antagonistic activities against the
Chinese government and their trial of strength with the
law. They have continued to organize by inciting "Falun
Gong" members to conduct illegal gatherings and make trouble
in China. As a result, the unlawful April 13 gathering at
Tiananmen Square was nothing new. The recent action by the
"Falun Gong" diehards was only another attempt by the heretical
organization to defy the law and to antagonize the government.
Although this event's progression from plotting to implementation
shows that it was organized and premeditated, which one
of the illegal activities long been carried out by Li Hongzhi
and his cohorts were not organized and premeditated? So
this event's planning was nothing surprising. What is noticeable
in this particular event is that some outside news media
made instant reports and certain people seized on the incident
to exaggerate matters. What caused Li Hongzhi and his gang
to take great pains to play up their disgraceful act? The
news released by the "Falun Gong's" overseas website has
given away their purpose. According to the site, the "United
Nations Human Rights Commission will put the US motion condemning
China to vote", therefore they would work in close coordination
with the American action.
The
person who made the remark, however, rejoiced so soon that
he forgot that Li Hongzhi had taken an oath against involving
his organization in politics. He said that the "Falun Gong"
absolutely "would not get involved in politics, would not
take action against the government, and would not give themselves
up to any inside or outside political forces." It is common
knowledge that recently, when the UN 56th Human Rights Meeting
was being held in Geneva of Switzerland, some US anti-China
elements were making irresponsible remarks against China
under the pretext of "human rights". In their ninth anti-China
motion, the name "Falun Gong" appeared repeatedly, which
became an important weapon used to attack China. American
anti-China forces "showed much concern" for the heretical
"Falun Gong" organization. Li Hongzhi and his gang fabricated
the lie that the Chinese government "carried out the suppression
of innocent people", and a "large-scale persecution of 'Falun
Gong' practitioners". Overjoyed as if they had found a precious
treasure, the American anti-China forces regarded this as
important evidence of China's "infringement on human rights".
Many "Falun Gong" practitioners have suffered from Li Hongzhi's
heretical fallacy, more than 1,500 have become "Falun Gong"
victims, more than 600 have contracted serious mental disorders
resulting from Li Hongzhi's spiritual control. All these
facts, in these critics' eyes, were not infringements upon
human rights and did not suffice to arouse even their slightest
"concern". This is not because those anti-China forces of
the United States like heresy, but because the heretical
"Falun Gong" organization currently more or less still has
some energy for stirring up trouble within China. In addition,
previous anti-China motions have had only the same few words
they have repeated time and again, but this year these China
critics can make use of the "Falun gong" heretical organization
to create a new story. It turns out to be: Li Hongzhi and
his gang are an anti-China tool that American anti-China
forces can make use of!
Let's
see what "useful" things this tool has done for the anti-China
forces:
On
March 2 this year, a "Falun Gong" member, who is a Chinese
American, was assigned to a hearing on the "Chinese and
Tibetan human right issue" held by the US Congress Foreign
Relations Committee. While at the hearing, this member spread
rumors to the participants against his conscience, saying
that a month ago he was detained for eight days and suffered
many kinds of "maltreatment" for "protecting and maintaining
the 'Falun Gong'." These rumors won the appreciation of
certain people on this committee.
On
March 16, at a hearing on the "issue relating to China's
religious freedom" held in Los Angeles, the US International
Committee for Religious Freedom whipped up public opinion.
Li Hongzhi sent his right-hand man Zhang Erping to attend
the hearing together with Wei Jingsheng and other "democratic
movement" and "Tibetan independence" supporters as well
as the notorious Henry Wu. Wei Jingsheng in his speech called
upon concerned countries to reject China's entry into the
World Trade Organization and to oppose the United States
granting China PNTR status. This most clearly indicates
their common stand.
On
March 20, the UN 56th Human Rights Meeting was opened. On
the same day Li Hongzhi and his gang held a press conference,
at which they distributed a "news statement", declaring,
"We have noted with great pleasure that the US government
is prepared to table, at the Geneva UN Human Rights Meeting,
a motion criticizing China's 1999 human rights record".
The statement also brazenly declared, "…violation of the
Human Rights Act cannot be regarded as an internal affairs…."
