Tibetan Living Buddha Criticises Falun Gong

Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai, a Tibetan living Buddha and vice-chairman of the Ninth National People's Congress Standing Committee, said here today that he firmly supports the Communist Party Central Committee's decision to ban Falun Gong.

Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai said that it was necessary for the Party to reveal the truth that Falun Gong, which was started by Li Hongzhi, misled people and posed a great harm to their health and he warned that normal religious activities would be affected if the fallacies of Falun Gong and other cults are not corrected.

Pagbalha was recognized as the 11th Pagbalha Hutugtu ( incarnation of Buddha) of Qangdin Lamasery in Tibet at the age of two.

He said that the Tibet Autonomous Region has maintained steady economic and social development since the democratic reforms started 40 years ago and the normal lives of Tibetans and the bright future of Tibet should never be sabotaged by cults like the Falun Gong.
