Religious leaders, social science scholars criticize Falun Gong

People from Beijing's religious circles and social science scholars gathered here today to criticize Falun Gong, an illegal organization headed by Li Hongzhi.

Participants at the forum agreed that the commentary in Thursday's People's Daily, titled "Falun Gong Is a Cult," expressed the feelings and thoughts of religious people.

They urged people who still believe in Falun Gong to become aware of Li Hongzhi's fallacies and come back to take the right stand.

About 70 people including leaders of the Buddhist Association of China, the China Taoist Association, the Islamic Association of China, the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association, the Three-Self Patriotic Movement Committee of Protestant Churches of China, and other religious organizations and experts and scholars attended the forum.
