Representatives
from all walks of life in the Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region (SAR) gathered at a forum in Hong Kong Monday, condemning
the "Falun Gong" cult for sabotaging the "one
country, two systems" principle and the prosperity and
stability of the SAR.
Sponsored by the Hong Kong Culture Association Limited and
the Wen Wei Po newspaper, the forum was aimed to disclose
the evil essence of the "Falun Gong" and enhance
the understanding of local people about the cult.
Tsang Hin-chi, a member of the National People's Congress
Standing Committee, said that it was a correct, timely and
necessary step for the Central People's Government to ban
the "Falun Gong" cult in the mainland in accordance
with law.
However, the "Falun Gong" followers have kept upgrading
their political activities in Hong Kong, bringing negative
effects on the social stability and the economic recovery
and sabotaging the "one country, two systems," Tsang
noted.
He said that the Hong Kong people would never allow the "Falun
Gong" followers to do anything against the motherland
and the people by making use of the "one country, two
systems" and would by no means let them damage the prosperity
and stability of the SAR.
Leo Lee Tung-hai, a member of the Standing Committee of the
National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative
Conference (CPPCC), pointed out that "Falun Gong"
is not a religion, but a cult.
The activities conducted by the "Falun Gong" have
run contrary to the function and goal as it claimed when it
was registered in Hong Kong, Lee said, noting that the cult
has torn away its disguise and has been trying to make itself
internationalized and politicized.
The political activities conducted by the "Falun Gong"
in Hong Kong has disturbed the modernization drive in the
mainland and also sabotaged the "one country, two systems"
in the SAR, he said. Therefore, the campaign against the "Falun
Gong" is to safeguard the "one country, two systems"
and the common interests of the mainland and Hong Kong, he
stressed.
Henry Hu, also a member of the Standing Committee of the
CPPCC National Committee, also denounced the "Falun Gong"
for attacking the communication satellite and interrupting
TV programs in the mainland, and said that its rampant disruption
of the civil communications should be condemned by the people
all over the world.
Chan Wing-kee, president of the Chinese Manufacturers' Association
of Hong Kong, said that vicious incidents contrived by the
"Falun Gong" fully exposed its wickedness.
He urged the Hong Kong people to keep vigilant and resolutely
fight against various illegal activities conducted by the
"Falun Gong" cult.
Wang Fengchao, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the
Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region, attended the forum.
