A total of 59 foreign Falun Gong activists advocated the
cult and created a public disturbance on Tian'anmen Square
on Thursday. Of these, 53 from 12 countries, whose nationalities
and identities have been confirmed, were sent out of the country
by 6 p.m. Friday.
The remaining six, who refused to reveal their nationalities
or present any form of identification, were detained by the
Beijing police for investigation, sources said.
The 59 foreigners, who caused trouble on the Tian'anmen square
from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, violated China's Law on Assemblies,
Processions and Demonstrations and regulations dealing with
destructive cults.
In accordance with the law these foreigners were removed
from the square by police patrolling the area Thursday afternoon.
They were reprimanded and admonished according to law, but
were treated humanely.
The 53 foreigners, whose identities have been determined,
were ordered to leave China within a time limit according
to law. They had all left by 6 p.m. Friday.
The six foreigners, who did not have passports or other valid
documents of identification with them, have refused to say
who they are. They were detained by the Beijing police for
investigation according to the Chinese law on border entries
and exits.
