Seeking Sympathy by Deluding People with
Lies and Through Deception

Before the Chinese government's crackdown on "Falun Gong," Li Hongzhi stressed that "doomsday" would come soon. People who wanted to be saved must follow him and his "Falun Gong." After the Chinese government's banning of the "Falun Gong" cult, Li Hongzhi and his "Falun Gong" organization realized that "Falun Gong" embodied obvious essential features of cults, which did harm to their survival outside of China. Therefore, "Falun Gong" has been trying hard to conceal its real nature as a cult, evade or deny some of the fallacies Li Hongzhi advocated, and cover up the serious harm it has done to the public and society at large, as well as its wanton infringement upon human rights.

In March 2000, "Falun Gong" diehards concocted a report vilifying the Chinese government for its banning of the "Falun Gong" organization. They collected 103 so-called cases of "Falun Gong" practitioners being persecuted. Competent authorities in China have made a thorough investigation of all these cases, revealing that 33 cases are pure fabrication; 58 are distortions of facts; 10 are unfounded and in two cases the persons involved do not exist. That is to say, not a single case cited by "Falun Gong" is true.

Recently, "Falun Gong" beefed up its propaganda against the Chinese government, and fabricated and spread so-called news about the Chinese government's persecution of "Falun Gong" practitioners. They concocted such rumors to cover up the fact that "Falun Gong" is the sole and chief culprit which caused the deaths of many practitioners. At the same time, they seek sympathy through deception from those who are not clear about the actual situation.

The people who died did so either by committing suicide resulting from "Falun Gong" mind control, or from delayed medical treatment because they were misled by Li Hongzhi's heretical ideas and refused to go to hospital when they fell ill. Even today, Li Hongzhi is still openly instigating his followers to be ready to give up their lives. In a text issued by him on August 12, "Getting Rid of the Last Pursuit," he demanded that his "Dafa disciples get rid of all pursuits of the common people, including the pursuit of life."

Lately, many "Falun Gong" websites have posted fallacious reports about a "Falun Gong" practitioner called Gu Zhiyi of Chongqing, claiming that she "was tortured with 24 implements of torture, both ancient and new, in prison." The facts are just as Gu described in a letter about her life at a detention center: "Here my personal rights are respected, my lawful interests are protected, and there is no physical punishment whatsoever, let alone brutal torture. I hope those people who don't believe that I am all right here will come to see me, or they may learn the true situation from my room-mates. What we say should be based on facts, not on rumors."
