Li Hongzhi's fallacies politically motivated

AN article in yesterday's "People's Daily" said that Li Hongzhi's malicious fallacies in his doomsday message are politically motivated.

It says that Li preaches that the earth will explode and that doomsday is coming. He says that no government can solve the problem and that he is the only proper ruler of the world, a world that cannot survive without him.

His purpose is crystal clear, the paper said. He deceived a lot of people by deifying himself with the aim of taking the place of the government and to rule the world. His acts betrayed his malicious political ambitions.

It goes on to say that the illegal gathering outside the Communist Party and central government compound at Zhongnanhai in Beijing on April 25 was a signal that the Falun Gong sect is not a simple problem and that people should be vigilant in their fight against it.

It urged people to be more sober- minded because Li has the evil aim of developing Falun Gong into a political force that can be used against the government and Party.

In Changchun, the head official of a former Falun Gong training centre in Northeast China's Jilin Province says he has seen the true face of Li Hongzhi and has begun criticizing him for his fallacies.

Jiao Lixun, 57, said he regretted having joined Li's organization and helping him spread his tricks. Jiao also said he is upset that Li destroyed many happy families by training them in Falun Gong.

Jiao said he should stand behind the government and call on all practitioners in the province to stop practicing Falun Gong.

A village in Japan has cancelled a plan to sponsor a course of classes on the practice of the Falun Gong after the meditation group was banned by China last week, according to a Kyodo News report.

The village of Misato in Nagano Prefecture, central Japan, had planned to sponsor the classes at a community centre, village officials said, adding that the lessons were scheduled to begin yesterday and to be held three more times until August 25.

Now that Beijing has declared the group illegal, village authorities deemed it inappropriate to hold such a course at a public facility, the officials said.

Also, China's top agency for anti-pornography and other illegal publications has called for the destruction of all publications and materials related to Falun Gong.
