Li
Shuqin, 65 and a native of Fengtai District, Beijing, suffered
a ruptured blood vessel in the brain caused by high blood
pressure in 1994. She was out of danger after emergency treatment.
After that, Li insisted on taking medicines regularly, and
her blood pressure became stable. She began to practice "Falun
Gong" in April 1998, and stopped taking medicine from that
time. On January 19, 1999, Li developed a serious cough and
her blood pressure went up. When her family members tried
to send her to a hospital and persuade her to take medicine
she refused, saying, "It is not loyal to our master if I take
medicine. Our master says in his book that 'Falun Gong' practitioners
should be responsible for some of their sins, and deserve
to suffer." Li Shuqin died of a sudden heart attack while
practicing "Falun Gong" on the evening of January 21.
Li Hongzhi said: "Disciples of 'Falun Dafa' are not allowed
to see doctors, and you are not one of us 'Falun Dafa' disciples
if you go to hospital." But Li Hongzhi himself went to hospital
when he was ill, and had an operation when he had acute appendicitis.
He went to seven hospitals during his stay in Changchun.
