on the "Falun Gong" "Statement"
(I)
While
Chinese representatives were doing their utmost to preserve
national dignity by fighting against the anti-China motion
at the 56th Session of the UN Commission on Human Rights proposed
by USA-led Western countries, a few "Falun Gong" diehards
brazenly stood by the USA and, using "safeguarding human rights"
as a camouflage, attempted to cover the anti-science, anti-government
nature of the "Falun Gong" cult. On March 20, 2000, they distributed
a so-called statement in Geneva to defend themselves. However,
anyone who analyses the facts, will immediately find the falseness
of this statement.
In
the statement, several fictitious examples are given as the
basis of the following conclusion: "The only 'crime' of these
persons is that they tried to enjoy freedoms of religious
belief, assembly and speech, which are stipulated in the Constitution
of China." It may well be asked: Why did the Chinese government
ban only "Falun Gong," while granting Moslems, Buddhists,
Christians and other religious believers those very same freedoms?
The reason is very simple: "Falun Gong" is not a religion
but an evil cult.
Duped
by "Falun Gong," an enormous number of innocent practitioners
became depressed and isolated from their families and friends.
When they fell ill they did not go to see a doctor or take
medicine and as a result, some of them became disabled or
died. Many families therefore lost relatives or were broken
up. Hoodwinked by the cult, many practitioners even openly
protested against the government and disturbed public order.
A great number of facts prove that "Falun Gong" is an out-and-out
anti-science, anti-society, anti-government cult. The vast
majority of "Falun Gong" practitioners have broken with the
organization after coming to understand its nature of deceiving
the public and ruining lives, and declared this in a variety
of ways. Also, many countries have supported the Chinese government's
banning of "Falun Gong."
The
Constitution of China protects citizens' legitimate freedoms
of religious belief, assembly and speech. Cracking down on
an evil cult like "Falun Gong" is in order to safeguard the
lawful rights of the vast majority of the country's citizens.
A
handful of "Falun Gong" diehards have tried in vain to use
the Constitution to defend themselves. However, it is the
"Falun Gong" organization's actions that have violated the
Constitution.

In
the "statement," the author gives the following description
of "Falun Gong": "As a traditional form of spiritual cultivation,
'Falun Gong' originates in ancient China's Buddhism and Taoism.
It demands that people observe the common principles of 'truthfulness,
benevolence and tolerance,' and shows them a road to peace
and wisdom…. Apart from its clear health benefits, 'Falun
Gong' has an enormous attraction for many people with its
traditional values and mental outlook. As a form of peaceful
cultivation, it does not set up organizations, encourage worship
of its founder or conduct religious rituals. However, its
purpose is the same as that of other great religions in the
world-to cultivate more perfect people with a mental outlook
of a higher level."
If
this were true, wouldn't Li Hongzhi be Sakyamuni or Jesus?
"Falun Gong" has all along boasted itself as a "supernatural
power" and the only "orthodox law," so when did it come to
condescendingly admit that it "originates in ancient China's
Buddhism and Taoism"? If "Falun Gong" is beneficial to health,
how can one explain the fact that over 1,500 practitioners
have died over the past several years and that a large number
of practitioners have become disabled or schizophrenic? Could
it be said that replacing scientific medical treatment with
anti-science, blind "cultivation" is "beneficial to people's
health"?
As
a result of plunging into "Falun Dafa," many practitioners
have become stupefied and isolated themselves from their families
and friends, their normal life being completely changed. Their
symptoms mainly include hysterical crying and laughing, refusing
to eat, clouding of consciousness, disturbance of consciousness,
insomnia, anxiety, restlessness, incendiarism, disordered
speech, compulsive behavior, cenesthesiopathy, feelings of
guilt, suicidal tendencies and violence. What's more, some
of them believed that those who tried to dissuade them from
practicing "Falun Gong," including their parents, were "demons,"
and attacked them violently or killed them cruelly. Are these
the "traditional values and mental outlook" that have "an
enormous attraction for many people"? Are such practitioners
"more perfect people with a mental outlook of a higher level"?
It is simply self-deception to say that there is "no worshipping
of the founder" and that there is "no organization"; if this
were true, it would have been impossible for more than ten
thousand "Falun Gong" practitioners from various places of
the country to stage a sit-in outside Zhongnanhai, the seat
of the Central Government.
(III)
The
end of the "statement" reads: "We are delighted to see that
the government of the United States is going to put forward
a motion criticizing China's human rights record in 1999 at
the UN human rights conference held in Geneva."-Do they have
no shame, acting as the paws of the tiger?
Every
year the United States issues a human rights report criticizing
and condemning other countries. Instead of helping them to
improve their human rights situation, it uses human rights
as a camouflage to interfere in other countries' internal
affairs. Last year's "Kosovo War" is a clear example of this.
With its own human rights situation in a complete mess, the
United States continually makes irresponsible remarks about
those of other countries. It is ridiculous and detestable
that "Falun Gong" diehards would go so far as to take such
a country as their Savior. Since they have "Master" Li Hongzhi
as their omnipotent Savior, why do they need to turn to the
United States for protection? They stood by the USA's interference
in China's internal affairs and took advantage of such an
opportunity to issue this "statement," and yet they claim
that they are not concerned with politics. "Falun Gong," stop
your playacting. The more you try to cover up your misdeeds,
the more obvious they become.
