The
tragedy of Falun Gong befell another Chinese family last
week, officials say, when a young follower of the cult killed
his parents in North China's Hebei Province.
According
to the People's Daily, Zhu Changjiu, a farmer from Cangzhou
of Hebei Province believed his parents were destined to
die on the night of November 25.
The
report said he got this idea from doctrines of Falun Gong,
a cult banned by the Chinese Government.
On
the morning of November 26, Zhu found his parents were still
alive when he woke up, despite what he had expected.
"To
help my parents to break away from the hell of living in
the world," Zhu later explained, he killed his parents
with iron hammers, the newspaper reported.
Zhu's
father was 73, and his mother was 69. Both were in good
health, police said. Zhu, 33, has two children and has already
been arrested.
Officials
said he bought a book on Falun Gong in 1996 and has followed
the cult since.
Zhu
is still asserting that his behaviour will bring his parents
to paradise, the report said.
