Selected cases of victims of "Falun Gong"
Deceived
and misled by Li Hongzhi's heretical fallacies, quite a
number of "Falun Gong" practitioners, when falling ill,
refused to go to hospital for medical treatment or for medication.
Some died tragically because of delayed treatment. There
were still others who suffered from mental disorder, some
even committed suicide and some turned into brutal killers
as a result of their practice of "Falun Gong." The grave
consequences of practicing "Falun Gong" which caused physical
and mental problems to both practitioners and non-practitioners
were numerous. Here we have selected 100 such cases out
of many more so far recorded.
1.
Hu Aiping, a worker in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, used
to have a happy family. From 1996 to 1997, she and her mother-in-law
practiced "Falun Gong," together with their neighbors and
colleagues. As time went by, Hu Aiping became more and more
obsessed with "Falun Gong." She was no longer concerned
about her family, and her health became worse with each
passing day. Her family members tried to make her see a
doctor time and time again, but she believed in the claim
of Li Hongzhi that "Falun Gong" practitioners did not need
to see doctors, nor take medicine. Finally, one day in 1999,
while practicing "Falun Gong," she collapsed on the ground,
and was sent to a hospital by her family members. She was
diagnosed as suffering from tubercular meningitis. She died
on April 22,1999.
Hu
Aiping's mother-in-law abandoned "Falun Gong" after Hu's
death. She threw the so-called sacred portrait of Li Hongzhi,
and the books on "Falun Gong" into the dustbin.
2.
Wu Ziming, a farmer of Fangouqiao in the suburbs of Bengbu,
Anhui Province, used to have a happy family. He drove a
passenger bus, and his wife ran a kindergarten, both earning
quite an enviable income a month. However, after his wife
Sun Yanling started to practice "Falun Gong" in 1997, his
happy family life came to an end.
In
1997, Sun Yanling went to the local Xinhua Bookstore to
buy books for the kindergarten and came across some people
practicing "Falun Gong." Someone propagated it to her. After
that she began to practice "Falun Gong." In April 1999 Sun
began spitting blood, but she refused to go to hospital,
saying that "Falun Gong" was dispelling diseases and foulness
from her.
After
spitting blood a second time, Sun Yanling said happily to
a neighbor, an old lady, that her illness had been cured
by "Falun Gong." When she was fatally sick that night, she
still said that she was fine. As a result, she missed the
chance to be treated in a hospital and eventually died.
Another happy family had been ruined by "Falun Gong."
3.
Fan Zhaokun, born 1933, was a staff member of the Light
Industry Research Institute of Dalian. Zhao Xuemin, Fan's
wife, born 1938, was a worker at the Dalian Chemical Plant.
In
the summer of 1995, Zhao began to practice "Falun Gong"
at a "Falun Gong" instruction center located at the botanical
garden in Zhongshan District. After several months she persuaded
her husband to practice "Falun Gong" at home and stop seeing
doctors for his heart disease. In February 1996, Fan died.
Believing her husband could be resuscitated by "Falun Gong,"
Zhao refused to cremate his corpse and preserved it for
a year, prohibiting her daughter from entering the room
where the corpse was kept. His dead body was found in February
1997, when Zhao herself also died of a heart attack.
4.
Li Shuxian, the wife of Zhang Yuling, a retired worker of
the Bridge Factory in Fengtai District, Beijing, suffered
from heart disease. In April 1998, she started to practice
"Falun Gong." From then on, she refused to go to see the
doctor, or take medicine. Eight months later, while she
was sitting in meditation, she died of a heart attack.
Zhang
Yuling said, "Before her death, my wife coughed for two
whole nights. I urged her to go to hospital. But she said,
'It's not necessary; I will recover in two days. The master
said that he is purifying my body and helping me dispelling
karma. So I am sick to offset my sins.' The doctors said
she died of myocardial infarction. However the leader of
the local 'Falun Gong' center said that my wife had gone
up to Heaven because of the many good deeds she did."
5.
Jiang Weimin, 54, was a senior engineer at the Anhui Electronics
Institute. He was appointed chief of the Anhui "Falun Gong"
instruction center shortly after becoming a practitioner
of "Falun Gong" at the beginning of 1994. But he suddenly
died from a cerebral hemorrhage when practicing "Falun Gong"
one day, ten months after he had assumed office.
According
to Gao Qingyin, deputy head of the center, Li Hongzhi told
them that "Falun Gong" practitioners would never be in danger,
because they would be protected by his "law-bodies." After
Jiang Weimin fell ill, Gao tried to contact Li Hongzhi to
get him to treat Jiang's disease, but failed. Then he rang
Wang Zhiwen, vice-chairman of the "Research Society of Falun
Dafa" in Beijing, begging him to ask Li Hongzhi to cure
Jiang with his supernatural powers. Although the "Research
Society of Falun Dafa" in Beijing promised to save Jiang,
he died nine days later.
6.
Li Xia, of Qufu City, Shandong Province, started to practice
"Falun Gong" after retiring in 1996, hoping to be able to
cure her mother's diabetes. Thinking that "Falun Gong" was
omnipotent, she took her mother home from the hospital where
she had been receiving treatment, and asked her to practice
"Falun Gong" with her. She stopped her mother's injections
and refused to allow her to take medicine. She taught her
to sit cross-legged in "Falun Gong" meditation. As a result,
her mother died due to the delay of medical treatment.
This
tragedy opened Li Xia's eyes to the real nature of "Falun
Gong" and the charlatan Li Hongzhi.
7.
Zhang Zhendong, a retired worker of Changchun City, Jilin
Province, started to practice "Falun Gong" together with
his wife in June, 1997.
On
May 11, 1998, the old man suddenly caught a bad fever. His
wife tried to persuade him to go to hospital for medical
treatment, but he insisted that he was dispelling karma
as a "Falun Gong" practitioner. His fellow practitioners
urged him to keep practicing "Falun Gong" to take advantage
of this good opportunity to dispel karma, and dissuaded
him from going to the hospital or taking medicine.
On
June 11, the old man finally agreed to go to the hospital.
But it was too late; his disease had become incurable. Three
days before his death he complained of Li Hongzhi's neglect
of him. He pointed at Li's photo on the wall with trembling
hands, and then tore it pieces.
8.
Zhao Guangyun lived in Shunyi Residential Quarters, Jinan
City, Shandong Province. In 1996, he started to practice
"Falun Gong," together with his wife. According to a publicity
brochure containing the health reports of "Falun Gong" practitioners
distributed by the local "Falun Gong" organization, Zhao
originally suffered from severe anemia, which made him too
weak to be able to walk 40-50 meters at a time, but after
three months of practicing "Falun Gong," he gained 10 kg
and recovered his appetite and could walk as any normal
man. The organization claimed that this could only be achieved
by "Falun Gong" practitioners. This report was published
in April 1999, but Zhao died in May of the same year.
Zhao's
wife Zhuang Xiangfeng disclosed the truth of the affair:
Zhao had not recovered from his illness when he was asked
to write the report about his health, but the "Falun Gong"
organization ordered him to claim to be recovered and to
take the opportunity to dispel karma. As a result, instead
of dispelling karma, he lost his life.
How
did this deceitful report come into being? According to
the chief editor of the material and concurrently deputy
chief of the Zhongqu "Falun Gong" instruction Center in
Jinan, before Li Hongzhi went to Jinan to preach, he ordered
each member in Jinan to write a report of personal experience
of practicing "Falun Gong," and said that the better the
report was written, the more completely karma would be dispelled.
Consequently, 2,000 copies were printed for each of the
90 reports concocted.
9.
Ding Zhaodi, a 43-year-old worker at the No. 2 Construction
Company in Jiangxi Province, used to have a happy family.
But after she started to practice "Falun Gong" in 1996,
she became so addicted to it that she shirked her family
responsibilities altogether.
Not
only did she practice "Falun Gong" herself, but she also
asked her two younger sisters to join her. In order to see
Li Hongzhi in person, in August 1998 the three sisters flew
to Singapore at their own expense to attend a lecture given
by him. In September 1998, Ding caught a cold. She refused
to see a doctor or take any medication but put all her energy
into practicing "Falun Gong".
Ding's
daughter Hu Weina said that her mother coughed continually,
and finally became very emaciated.
Ding's
illness became more and more serious, but she turned a deaf
ear to her family members when they urged her to seek medical
treatment. She believed that "Falun Gong" would dispel all
adversities and Li Hongzhi would protect her. In January
1999, she died.
Said
Hu Weina: "Before, Mom was very kind to me. But after she
took up 'Falun Gong,' she would spend the whole evening
watching 'Falun Gong' videos or listening to tapes. She
would not ask about me or check my homework, 'Falun Gong'
ruined my family. Now our family has only Dad and me, and
it is not like a family."
Ding's
death brought her two sisters to their senses. Not only
have they cut all ties with "Falun Gong," but they also
use their experience to persuade other "Falun Gong" practitioners
to abandon it too.
